STEP Project (Statistics through Eastern Partnership)
START DATE: JANUARY 2019
DURATION: 34 MONTHS
BUDGET:
The project focuses on the following topics:
- To improve the production and dissemination of good quality statistics in the partner countries
- To increase the level of harmonisation of methodologies both between the countries and with the EU
- To strengthen the institutional capacity of the NSIs of the region along the principles set out in the European Statistics Code of Practice
- To support evidence-based policymaking, ensuring that statistical evidence substantiates policy choices, through improved cooperation and coordination between the NSIs, policymakers and line institutions
The overall objective is strengthening of the statistical evidence base for policy-making through more and better-quality official statistics, produced by the National Statistical Systems (NSS) of the partner countries, in line with the European Statistical System (ESS) standards and practices.
NSIs of the Beneficiary countries: Eastern Partnership (EaP) countries (Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine).
Implementing agencies: Expertise France (LEADER) , Istat, the Hungarian Central statistical office (HCSO), Institut National de la Statistique et des Etudes Economiques (INSEE), Statistics Denmark, and Statistics Lithuania.
