Foreign trade and import prices - September 2023
In September 2023 seasonally-adjusted data, compared to August 2023, decreased both for exports (-4.5%) and for imports (-3.1%). Exports fell by -2.4% for EU countries and by -6.7% for non-EU countries. Imports decreased by -3.8% for EU countries and by -2.1% for non-EU countries.
Over the last three months, seasonally-adjusted data, compared to the previous three months, increased slightly for exports (+0.3%) and decreased for imports (-2.9%).
In September 2023, compared with the same month of the previous year, exports fell by -6.6% and imports dropped by -20.5%. Outgoing flows decreased by -6.3% for EU countries and by -6.9% for non-EU countries. Incoming flows fell by -8.3% for EU area and dropped by -32.4% for non-EU area.
In September 2023, trade balance registered a surplus of +2,346 million Euros (-471 million Euros deficit for EU countries and +2,817 million Euros surplus for non-EU countries). Excluding energy, trade balance surplus was equal to +7,528 million Euros.
In September 2023, import prices increase by 0.7% on monthly basis (+0.1% for the euro zone, +1.4% for the non-euro zone). Over the last three months, compared to the previous three months, they decreased by 1.1%.
Import prices, compared to the same month a year ago, decrease by 12.1% in September 2023 (-3.3% for the euro zone and -19.1% for the non-euro zone).
2022 data on foreign trade have been revised and made final. The online database www.coeweb.istat.it has been updated as regards raw data, seasonally adjusted series and indices.
