Large firms labour indicators

Labour indicators for large firms (enterprises with 500 employees and more) are calculated with reference to the base year 2010 using the Ateco 2007 classification (Italian edition of Nace Rev. 2).

In May 2013 the seasonally adjusted employment index in large firms is unchanged compared with April (-0.2% in industry and unchanged in services); net of workers in cassa integrazione guadagni (Cig = short-time working allowance) it decreased by 0.1% (-0.1% in industry and -0.2% in services). The percentage  change of  the average of the last three months compared to the previous three months was -0.3% gross of Cig and -0.1% net of Cig.

The  unadjusted  employment   index  in  large  firms decreased  by 1.4% compared with  May 2012 (-1.4% net of Cig); the percentage change of the first five months of the year with respect to the same period of 2012 was -1.4% both gross and net of Cig.

In May 2013 the seasonally adjusted index of gross average earnings per hours worked increased by 1,3% with respect to the previous month -0.4% in industry and +1.6% in services). The percentage change of the average of the last three months compared to the previous three months was +1.5% (+1.4% both in industry and services).

The unadjusted index of gross average earnings per hours worked increased by 2.3% compared with May 2012 (+1.4% in industry and +2.7% in services). The percentage change of the first five months of the year with respect to the same period of 2012 was +1.1% (+0.6 % in industry and +1.3% in services).
