Survey on Doctorate Holders’ Vocational Integration

The Italian National Institute of Statistics carries out the survey on university doctorate holders’ vocational integration interviewing PhD graduates, aiming at detecting their employment conditions some years after graduation.

The survey is part of the survey-system on the study-to-work-transition, which also includes the survey on the vocational integration of university graduates and the one on the upper secondary school graduates’ transition to university and labor market. The survey-system is an important source of data for benchmarking the performance in the labor market of the different qualifications. Moreover, it is a useful tool for evaluating the effectiveness of the higher education system as a whole, providing a comprehensive picture on the transition pathways from education to employment for the young.

Unlike other surveys of the system, the survey on doctorate holders is not a sample survey but a total one and is carried out referring to two groups of PhD graduates.
