Violence against women is based on gender and is a structural and spread phenomenon. It occurs in many forms of different levels of severity: from physical to sexual acts, from psychological to economical violence, from stalking to femicide.
Today central and local institutions in Italy are completely and proactively engaged with strategies and policies to fight violence against women. The media more often pay attention to make the communication a tool of critical information on the phenomenon. Positive synergies are increasing between many actors, such as institutions and third sector, and they are supported in the national action plans against violence.
