Retail trade – June 2024
In June 2024, the seasonally adjusted index for retail trade decreased by 0.2% in both value and volume compared to the previous month.
In the 2nd quarter of 2024, the value of sales increased by 0.1%, while the volume of sales declined by 0.1% compared to the previous quarter.
Year-on-year, the value of retail trade decreased by 1.0% in June 2024 and the volume of sales dropped by 1.8%.
In June 2024, large-scale distribution saw a year-on-year increase of 0.5%, while small-scale distribution experienced a decline of 2.0%. Non-store retail sales fell by 4.2%. Online sales declined in June 2024 for the second consecutive month, showing a contraction of 3.9% compared to June 2023.
The year-on-year analysis of non-food product sales in June 2024 showed notable variations across different categories. Cosmetics and toilet articles saw the largest increase, rising by 3.3%, followed by Optical instruments and photographic equipment at 2.5%, while Shoes, leather goods and travel items experienced the largest decline, falling by 5.1%, followed by Furniture and textile items and household furnishings dropping by 5.0%.
