Retail trade - June 2022

In June 2022 estimates for seasonally adjusted index of value sales decreased by 1.1% in the month on month series, likewise volume dropped by 1.8%.

In the 2nd quarter of 2022 value of sales grew by 1.1%, whereas volume of sales fell by 0.3% when compared with the previous quarter.

In June 2022 while value of retail trade continued to grow for the 16th month in a row in the year on year series gaining +1.4%, volume sales contracted by 3.8%, recording the first y-o-y fall since February 2021.

In June 2022, when compared with the same month a year earlier, large-scale distribution was up 4.6%, small-scale distribution was down 0.9% and non-store retail sales slightly grew by 0.1%.

Online sales returned to fall by 6.8% in June 2022 when compared with June 2021.

Looking at the value of sales for non-food products, data outlined a mixed picture across different categories in the year on year series. The largest increases were reported for Cosmetic and toilet articles (+3.2%) and Pharmaceutical products (+2.5%), whereas the largest drops were reported for Electric household appliances, audio-video equipment (-8.3%) and Computers and telecommunications equipment (-7.5%).
