Preliminary estimate of GDP - Q4 2023

In the fourth quarter of 2023 the seasonally and calendar adjusted, chained volume measure of Gross Domestic Product (GDP) increased by 0.2 per cent with respect to the previous quarter and by 0.5 per cent over the same quarter of previous year.

The fourth quarter of 2023 has had three days less than the previous quarter and one less than the same quarter of previous year.

The quarter on quarter change is the result of a decrease of value added in agriculture, forestry and fishing and of an increase in that of both industry and services. From the demand side, there is a negative contribution by the domestic component (gross of change in inventories) and a positive one by the net export component.

The carry-over annual GDP growth for 2024 is equal to +0.1%.
