Industrial turnover and orders
In April 2020 the seasonally adjusted turnover index dropped by 29.4% compared to the previous month (-27.9% the domestic market and -32.0% in non-domestic market); the average of the last three months decreased by 23.9% compared to the previous three months (-25.3% in domestic market and -21.4% in non-domestic market).
The seasonally adjusted industrial new orders index fell by 32.2% compared to March (-33.9% in domestic market and -30.0% in non-domestic market); the average of the last three months decreased by 27.7% compared to the previous three months (-31.5% in domestic market and -22.1% in non-domestic market).
With respect to the same month of the previous year the calendar adjusted industrial turnover index plummeted by 46.9% (-48.1% in domestic market and -44.6% in non-domestic market). Calendar working days in April 2020 were 21, one more than April 2019.
The unadjusted industrial new orders index fell by 49.0% with respect to the same month of the previous year (-53.0% in domestic market and -43.6% in non-domestic market).
The seasonally adjusted volume turnover index (only for the manufacturing sector) diminished by 28.9% compared to the previous month; the average of the last three months fell by 23.4% compared to the previous three months. The calendar adjusted volume turnover index dropped by 45.9% with respect to the same month of the previous year.
The pandemic emergency impacted on the data collection of the survey and a moderate loss in the responses rate was registered.
