Confidence in manufacturing and construction

In September the seasonally adjusted confidence indicator in manufacturing fell from 98.6 in August to 94.5. Assessments on order books and production expectations worsened while inventories decreased.
According to the quarterly questions on export activity, in the third quarter 2011, respondents’ expectations on export turnover worsened. The share of surveyed firms reporting the existence of considerable obstacles limiting their export activity increased.
In August the seasonally adjusted confidence index in construction rose to 77 from 75.9 in
July. Assessments on order books remained unchanged (balance to -54) while employment
expectations improved (the balance rose from -19 to -17).
