ISLP International Statistical Poster Competition - Deadline for registration extended

There is time until 24 December to register for the Islp International Statistical Poster Competition. In fact, registration has been extended for the 2024-25 edition of the international competition sponsored by the National Institute of Statistics as part of the International Statistical Literacy Project (ISLP). The initiative is open to students from all over the world, from primary school (IV and V classes) to university (bachelor’s degrees), and for this edition the poster theme chosen for Italy is “The 2030 Agenda”.

The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development is an action program created by the UN, divided into 17 Goals to be achieved by 2030, to safeguard the future of planet Earth and its inhabitants. In creating the poster, it is possible to choose one or more of the proposed Goals, on such crucial topics as environmental protection, education, peace, justice, health and many others.

Making a statistical poster is an original and creative way to bring students closer to the subject and make them work in groups; it also allows an interdisciplinary approach, bringing together statistical, linguistic, communication, scientific, graphic and technological skills in a single work.

To register, teachers should send an email to islp@istat.it. Participation is free.

In previous editions of the competition, Istat-supported teams have achieved excellent positions at the international level. The team from the University of Turin came first in 2019 and, in 2023, the Istituto Miliani of Fabriano came second in the upper secondary school category and the Istituto comprensivo “Rudiano” of Rudiano (Brescia) came third of the lower secondary schools.
