The Report presents 321 Istat-SDGs statistical measures and 148 UN-IAEG-SDGs indicators.

Some key indicators are highlighted below.

Goal 1 – End poverty in all its forms everywhere

  • People living in absolute poverty: 9.8% in 2024
  • In-work at-risk-of-poverty rate (aged 18 and over): 10.2% in 2025

Goal 2 – End hunger, achieve food security and improved nutrition, and promote sustainable agriculture

  • People experiencing moderate or severe food insecurity: 2.2% in 2025
  • Irregular workers in agriculture: 20.8% in 2023

Goal 3 – Ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all at all ages

  • People with risky alcohol consumption behaviours (standardized rate per 100 persons aged 14 and over): 15.8 in 2025
  • Overweight people (standardized rate per 100 persons aged 18 and over): 44.7 in 2025

Goal 4 – Ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all

  • Authorized places in nurseries and supplementary early childhood education and care services: 31.6 per 100 children aged 0–2 in the 2023/2024 educational year
  • Individuals with at least basic digital skills: 54.3 per 100 individuals aged 16–74 in 2025

Goal 5 – Achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls

  • Anti-violence centres and shelters: 2.94 per 100,000 women aged 14 and over in 2024
  • Women on the boards of directors of listed companies: 43.5% in 2025

Goal 6 – Ensure availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation for all

  • Water abstraction for drinking purposes: 8,863.4 million cubic metres in 2024
  • Households that do not trust tap water for drinking: 29.9% in 2025

Goal 7 – Ensure access to affordable, reliable, sustainable and modern energy for all

  • Share of renewable energy in gross final energy consumption: 19.4% in 2024
  • Per capita final energy consumption in the residential sector: 454 kilograms of oil equivalent (kgoe) in 2024

Goal 8 – Promote sustained, inclusive and sustainable economic growth, full and productive employment and decent work for all

  • Employment rate (aged 20–64): 67.6% in 2025
  • Young people not in employment, education or training (NEET): 13.3% in 2025

Goal 9 – Build resilient infrastructure, promote inclusive and sustainable industrialization and foster innovation

  • Research intensity: 1.37% of GDP in 2023
  • CO₂ emission intensity of value added: 125.9 tonnes per million euros in 2023

Goal 10 – Reduce inequality within and among countries

  • People at risk of poverty: 18.6% in 2025
  • Residence permits issued to non-EU citizens: 3,810,741 in 2025

Goal 11 – Make cities and human settlements inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable

  • Provincial capital municipalities with an annual average PM2.5 concentration above 10 micrograms per cubic metre: 84.1% in 2024
  • Share of urban green areas in the urbanized surface of provincial capital municipalities: 7.2% in 2024

Goal 12 – Ensure sustainable consumption and production patterns

  • Domestic material consumption: 497.1 million tonnes in 2024
  • Separate collection of municipal waste: 67.7% in 2024

Goal 13 – Take urgent action to combat climate change and its impacts

  • CO₂ and other greenhouse gas emissions: 6.5 tonnes per inhabitant in 2024
  • Temperature anomalies compared with the 1991–2020 average: +1.33°C in 2024

Goal 14 – Conserve and sustainably use the oceans, seas and marine resources for sustainable development

  • Beached marine litter: 252 items per 100 metres of beach in 2024
  • Fish stocks within biologically sustainable levels: 55.6% in 2023

Goal 15 – Protect, restore and promote sustainable use of terrestrial ecosystems, sustainably manage forests, combat desertification, halt and reverse land degradation and halt biodiversity loss

  • Forest area as a proportion of total land area: 31.9% in 2025
  • Fragmentation of natural and agricultural land: 42.4% in 2024

Goal 16 – Promote peaceful and inclusive societies for sustainable development, provide access to justice for all and build effective, accountable and inclusive institutions at all levels

  • Population not registered in the population register: 1.5 per 1,000 inhabitants in 2024
  • Intentional homicides: 0.56 per 100,000 inhabitants in 2024

Goal 17 – Strengthen the means of implementation and revitalize the global partnership for sustainable development

  • Official Development Assistance as a share of Gross National Income: 0.30% in 2024
  • People aged 6 and over who used the Internet in the last three months: 83.1% in 2025
