Challenges in the measurement of nature in official statistics
Measurement and policy implications of ecosystems
The workshop aims to advance official statistical information on ecosystems and their economic importance, in accordance with the Fundamental Principles of Official Statistics. The workshop is divided into four sessions dealing with:
- Ecosystems mapping and conditions in a nature restoration perspective and territorial statistics for ecosystem services modelling;
- the multiple monetary values connected to ecosystems and their services, explored from a non-pricing perspective;
- the value of biophysical and territorial information and of the “connected monetary values” approach within a Beyond GDP framework;
- policy and methodological aspects, addressed in a concluding round table discussion.
As part of the workshop, a Call for Contributions for short papers and/or presentations is promoted; some contributions will be selected and presented in the program of sessions.
Abstracts should be submitted via email to EAMethodologicalWorkshop@istat.it by 20 April 2026.
Comprehensive information regarding participation, including instructions for preparing abstracts, is available in the Guidelines
