Foreign trade

Istat presents data on Italy’s foreign trade as well as unit value and volume indices (base year 2010=100) referring to June 2013. The results of the flash estimates on extra-EU trade for June 2013 have been disseminated on July 24th.

  • In June 2013 seasonally-adjusted data, compared to May 2013, showed an increase for exports (+1.2%) and imports (+1.6%). The increase, for exports, was the synthesis of an increase of 3.8% for EU countries and  a decrease of 1.7% for non EU countries. As regards imports the growth was recorded for both: +0.9% for EU and +2.5% for non EU markets. Over the last three months, seasonally-adjusted data, in comparison with the previous three months, showed an increase of 0.4% for outgoing flows and a drop of 2.1% for incoming flows.
  • In June 2013, compared with the same month of the previous year, trade decreased by 2.7% for exports (-2.8% for EU area and -2.7% for non EU countries) and decreased by 5.6% for imports (-3.0% for EU and -8.7% for non EU countries). The trade balance (January-June 2013) amounted to 12.3 billion Euro (4.3 billion Euro for EU area and 8.0 billion Euro for non EU countries) (Table 1).
