The Italian National Statistical Institute (Istat), in cooperation with the Office for National Statistics (ONS – United Kingdom), will host a Joint Workshop organized by the WP1 project – Statistical Units – and WP2 project – target population, frames, reference, period classifications and their application – of the ESSnet on Consistency of Concepts and Applied Methods of Business and Trade-related Statistics. The workshop titled is “Improving consistency in European Business Statistics”.
The European project ESSnet on Consistency aims to analyze the reasons of inconsistencies of figures of the different member states, and to produce proposals for the revision of the EU regulations and new methodological standards.
The workshop is divided in two sessions.
The first session (29th November) of the workshop refers to the WP1 project and it is aimed at presenting the proposals for a revision of the definition of the Statistical Unit Enterprise and the Statistical Units KAU/LKAU. Furthermore proposals on practical solutions of the major inconsistencies will be provided. The proposals will be discussed by invited experts of Business Statistics and National Accounts.
The second session (30th November) of the workshop refers to the WP2 project and it is aimed at presenting questionnaires on the issue of consistency of target population, frames, reference period and classifications which will later be addressed to Member States and the EFTA countries. The goal is to receive feedback from the participants on the proposed content and structure of the questionnaires. Further, some country practices on providing survey frames from the statistical business registers will be presented.
