Employment and unemployment

Istat estimates that 22.9 million persons were employed in the I quarter 2011, up 0.5% (+116 thousands) from I quarter 2010. Employment rate increased to 56.8% (+0.1 points).
Unemployed decreased to 2.2 million people (-118 thousands). Unemployed rate got down to 8.6% from 9.1% I quarter 2010. Inactivity rate increases to 37.8%.
