In the second quarter of 2023, exports decreased in seasonally-adjusted terms, compared with the previous period for the Centre (-15.7%), for the North-East (-2.6%) and for the South and Islands (-2.4%) while remained stationary for the North-West (0.0%).

In the first six months of 2023, compared with the same period of the previous year, exports rose in the South (+14.0%), in the North-West (+6.6%), in the Centre (+5.3%) and in the North-East (+1.7%), while dropped in the Islands (-19.6%).

In the first six months of 2023, the more relevant increases, according to their contribution to the total export growth, were recorded in Piemonte (+15.6%), Lombardia (+3.5%), Toscana (+10.4%), Campania (+25.5%) and Marche (+18.2%). Decreases were recorded in Lazio (-9.4%), Sicilia (-17.2%), Sardegna (-24.3%) and Friuli-Venezia Giulia (-9.7%).

The June 2023 data on foreign trade have been updated on the online database www.coeweb.istat.it. They incorporate an unplanned revision of import flows due to delays in acquiring input data. March 2023 data have also been revised for the same reason. Information on the revision will be available in the next press release “Foreign trade and import prices, 07-2023”, to be issued on September 15, 2023.
