The relevance and complexity of the crime statistics concerning the facts constituting the violation of criminal laws and the persons responsible for such violations, published by Istat, makes it necessary to construct a classification to be constantly updated and shared with all the bodies involved in dissemination of data.
The list of laws and codes on which the classification is based includes all cases of criminal violation.
The list of criminal laws and the classification are designed to be able to accommodate future developments of the legislation. For this purpose, a continuous process of updating the classification of the offense has been defined which involves multiple subjects. In addition to making it as shared as possible with the institutions and stakeholders, the aim of the project is to make the statistical distributions based on it immediately comparable.
