Turnover in services - Q1 2022

The Turnover in services index measures the quarterly evolution of sales by service sector enterprises at current prices. Since the first quarter 2018 indices are calculated with reference to the base year 2015 using the Ateco 2007 classification (Italian edition of NACE Rev.2).

In the first quarter of 2022 the seasonally adjusted Services turnover index increased by 2.8% compared to the previous quarter. In particular the index increased in Wholesale trade, trade and repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles (+4.1%), in Administrative and support service activities (+2.3%), in Transportation and storage (+1.9%) and in Professional, scientific and technical activities (+1.0%). The index decreased in Accommodation and food service activities (-1.3%) and in Information and communication (-0.7%).

In the first quarter of 2022 the Services turnover index increased by 17.0% compared to the first quarter 2021. In particular, the index increased by 109.2% for Accommodation and food service activities, by 29.0% for Transportation and storage, by 15.0% for Wholesale trade, trade and repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles, by 12.0% for Administrative and support service activities, by 5.2% for Professional, scientific and technical activities and by 4.2% for Information and communication activities.
