On 1 June 2021, with the dissemination of the quarterly data, the annual time series (March 2021 edition) in I.stat concerning the average population used in national accounts, the gross domestic product at market prices per inhabitant, the final national consumption per inhabitant and gross national income at market prices per inhabitant for the years 2002-2020, have been replaced.
The new time series released are based on the statistical reconstruction of population data for the years 2002-2018 (Ricostruzione statistica della popolazione residente per sesso, età e comune) disseminated on March 2021 and carried out to take into account results of the census of Population and Housing (31.12.2018) – the first on a permanent basis. The revised population levels have been used as the reference for the main macroeconomic aggregates and indicators. Data from 2019 onwards are aligned to the monthly results of the “Surveys on the movement and calculation of the resident population”. The updating of the population value has directly resulted in the recalculation of the per capita indicators.
The territorial series of the average population used in National Accounts and the related per capita values will be updated in December 2021, with the dissemination of data for 2020.
