In March 2021, estimates for construction output increased by 3.6% in the month-on-month series.
In the first quarter of 2021, the seasonally adjusted index of production in construction was up 5.4% when compared with the last quarter of 2020.
Year on year, the unadjusted index for construction output grew by 78.9%, while the calendar adjusted index (23 calendar working days against 22 working days in March 2020) rose by 74.5%. This is a record annual growth in construction output since the series began, which is mainly due to the impact of Covid-19 on construction output in March 2020.
In the first three months of 2021, construction output rose by 19.4% in the unadjusted series and increased by 20.9% in the calendar adjusted series.
