Foreign trade with non-EU countries

Data on Italy’s foreign trade with non-EU27 countries in January 2021 are preliminary. The results of the survey on total foreign trade in January 2021 will be disseminated on coming 18 March 2021.

In January 2021 exports to non-EU27 countries decreased by 12.7% and imports decreased by 18.0% compared with the same month of the previous year.

In January 2021, in seasonally adjusted terms, exports increased by 0.4% and imports decreased by 0.5% compared with December 2020. Over the last three months, seasonally adjusted data, compared with the previous three months, showed a 1.8% rise in outgoing flows and a 2.4% increase in incoming flows.

In January 2021 the trade balance with non-EU27 countries registered a surplus of 1,707 million euro compared to the surplus of 963 million euro in January 2020; excluding energy, the surplus was equal to 3,911 million euro, down compared with a 4,585 million euro surplus in January 2020.
