Foreign trade and import prices
In September 2020 seasonally-adjusted data, compared to August 2020, rose by +2.7% for outgoing flows and dropped by -0.6% for incoming flows. Exports grew for non EU countries (+8.1%) and decreased for EU countries (-2.1%). Imports increased by +0.8% for EU countries and fell by -2.7% for non EU countries.
Over the last three months, seasonally-adjusted data, compared to the previous three months, increased for both exports (+30.4%) and imports (+21.7%).
In September 2020, compared with the same month of the previous year, exports climbed by +2.1% and imports fell by -6.4%. Outgoing flows grew by +1.4% for EU countries and by +2.8% for non EU countries. Incoming flows dropped for both EU area and non EU area (-1.9% and -12.3% respectively). The trade balance in September 2020 amounted to +5,849 million Euros (+576 million Euros for EU countries and +5,273 million Euros for non EU countries).
In September 2020, import prices increased by 0.5% on monthly basis (+0.3% for the euro zone, +0.9% for the non-euro zone). Over the last three months, compared to the previous three months, import prices increased by 0.6% (unchanged for the euro zone, +1.2% for the non-euro zone).
Import prices, compared to the same month a year ago, decreased by 5.3% in September 2020 (-1.7% for the euro zone and -8.5% for the non-euro zone).
