In August 2020, estimates for construction output increased by 12.9% in the month on month series. This is the fourth consecutive month of growth since record falls during lockdown. In August 2020 seasonally adjusted index of construction output was above levels seen prior to the pandemic emergency, in the first two months of the year.
In the three months to August 2020, the seasonally adjusted index of production in construction was up 70.8% when compared with the previous three months.
Year on year, both the unadjusted index for construction output and the calendar adjusted index (21 calendar working days as in August 2019) grew, rising by 12.9% and 12.8% respectively.
In the first eight months of 2020, construction output contracted by 14.4% in the calendar-adjusted series and dropped by 14.3% in the unadjusted series.
