In July 2020, estimates for construction output increased by 3.5% in the month on month series, following record falls in March and April and strong growths in May and June. Despite the monthly growth, levels of seasonally adjusted index of production in construction remain lower than those seen at the beginning of 2020, prior to the pandemic outbreak in Italy.
In the three months to July 2020, the seasonally adjusted index of production in construction rose by 39.3% when compared with the previous three months.
Year on year, the unadjusted index for construction output decreased by 1.0%, likewise the calendar adjusted index contracted by 1.1% (23 calendar working days as in May 2019). This is the fifth consecutive fall in the year on year series.
In the first seven months of 2020, construction output was down 17.1% in the calendar-adjusted series and dropped by 17.0% in the unadjusted series.
