Production in the construction sector

In December 2019 seasonally adjusted construction output grew by 1.3% in the month on month series, following a 3.5% fall in November 2019.

Construction output decreased by 1.7% in the 4^th Quarter of 2019, compared with the previous quarter.

The year-on-year calendar adjusted index for production in construction contracted by 1.3% (20 calendar working days in December 2019 versus 19 days in December 2018), while the unadjusted index increased by 2.2%.

Looking at annual growth rates, the whole of 2019 shows an increase of 2.0% in the calendar adjusted series, while the unadjusted index grew by 2.2%. Therefore, estimates seem to confirm a return to growth in the construction output for the third consecutive year.
