Foreign trade and Industrial import prices

In April 2019 seasonally-adjusted data, compared to March 2019, increased both for outgoing flows (+0.3%) and for incoming flows (+0.9%). Exports rose for non EU countries (+0.4%) and EU countries (+0.2%). Imports increased of +0.9% for both EU countries and non EU countries.

Over the last three months, seasonally-adjusted data, compared to the three months earlier, increased for exports (+0.4%) and dropped for imports (-1.3%).

In April 2019, compared with the same month of the previous year, both exports and imports rose (+5.8% and +6.7% respectively). Outgoing flows rose by +6.7% for non EU countries and by +5.2% for EU countries. Incoming flows increased for both non EU area and EU area (+7.4% and +6.1% respectively). The trade balance in April 2019 amounted to +2,285 million Euros (+1,879 million Euros for non EU area and +1,005 million Euros for EU countries).

In April 2019, the total import prices index increased by 0.5% compared to the previous month (for the euro zone the index unchanged and increased by 0.9% for the non-euro zone); the total twelve-month rate of change increased by 1.2% (respectively increased by 0.7% for the euro zone and increased by 1.6% for the non-euro zone).

The quarterly total index of import prices decreased by 0.4% compared to the previous period, decreased by 0.3% for the euro zone and decreased by 0.4% for the non-euro zone.
