Foreign trade and Industrial import prices

In March 2019 seasonally-adjusted data, compared to February 2019, increased both for outgoing flows (+0.3%) and for incoming flows (+0.7%). Exports rose for EU countries (+0.9%) and fell for non EU countries (-0.5%). Imports increased both for EU countries (+0.9%) and non EU countries (+0.4%).

Over the last three months, seasonally-adjusted data, compared to the three months earlier, increased for exports (+0.5%) and dropped for imports (-3.4%).

In March 2019, compared with the same month of the previous year, exports remained stable and imports decreased (-0.3%). Outgoing flows rose by +2.2% for EU countries and fell by -2.8% for non EU countries. Incoming flows decreased for both non EU area and EU area (-0.5% and -0.1% respectively). The trade balance in March 2019 amounted to +4,625 million Euros (+3,405 million Euros for non EU area and +1,220 million Euros for EU countries).

In March 2019, the total import prices index increased by 0.6% compared to the previous month (for the euro zone the index unchanged and increased by 1.2% for the non-euro zone); the total twelve-month rate of change increased by 1.3% (respectively increased by 0.6% for the euro zone and increased by 2.1% for the non-euro zone).

The quarterly total index of import prices decreased by 1.8% compared to the previous period, decreased by 0.1% for the euro zone and decreased by 3.3% for the non-euro zone.
