Foreign trade and Industrial import prices

In February 2019 seasonally-adjusted data, compared to January 2019, decreased for outgoing flows (-1.1%) and and remained stable for incoming flows. Exports fell both for non EU countries (-2.3%) and EU countries (-0.2%). Imports decreased for non EU countries (-0.1%) and increased for EU countries (+0.1%).

Over the last three months, seasonally-adjusted data, compared to the three months earlier, dropped both for imports (-1.7%) and exports (-0.2%).

In February 2019, compared with the same month of the previous year, both exports and imports rose (+3.4% and +3.3%, respectively). Outgoing flows increased by +6.0% for non EU countries and by +1.6% for EU countries. Incoming flows rose by +5.6% for non EU area and by +1.8% for EU area. The trade balance in February 2019 amounted to +3,268 million Euros (+2,156 million Euros for non EU area and +1,112 million Euros for EU countries).

In February 2019 the total import prices index increased by 0.1% compared to the previous month (the index decreased by 0.1% for the euro zone and increased by 0.4% for the non-euro zone); the total twelve-month rate of change increased by 0.7% (respectively increased by 1.0% for the euro zone and increased by 0.5% for the non-euro zone).

The quarterly total index of import prices decreased by 2.4% compared to the previous period, decreased by 0.1% for the euro zone and decreased by 4.5% for the non-euro zone.
