Production in construction

The production in construction index provides monthly statistics on output in the sector, referring not only to all new work, but also to repair and maintenance data. The production in construction index is calculated on the base 2015=100.

Construction output contracted for the third consecutive period in the three-month on three-month time series, falling by 2.2% in May 2018.

Production in construction index also fell in the month-on-month series, decreasing by 2.2% in May 2018.

Compared with May 2017, construction output after adjustment for calendar effect differences was flat.

Despite the overall fall, construction output increased by 0.5% during the first five months of 2018, comparing to the same period in 2017.
