Turnover in services

The Services turnover index measures the quarterly change recorded in sales at current prices by enterprises belonging to the domain of services. Starting from the first quarter of 2013 the indices are calculated with reference to the base year 2010 using the ATECO 2007 Classification of Economic Activities (Italian edition of NACE Rev. 2).

In the fourth quarter of 2017 the Services turnover index increased by 3.6% compared to the fourth quarter of 2016. In particular, the index increased by 4.7% for Wholesale trade, trade and repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles, by 4.1% for Administrative and support service activities, by 3.6% for Transport, Warehousing and support activities, by 3.2% for Accommodation and food service activities and by 0.5% for Professional, scientific and technical activities. The Services turnover index decreased by 0.7% for Information and communication.

In the fourth quarter of 2017 the seasonally adjusted Services turnover index increased by 1.3% compared to the previous quarter. In particular, the index increased in Wholesale trade, trade and repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles (+2.1%), in Transport, Warehousing and support activities (+0.6) and in Accommodation and food service activities (+0.1%). The index decreased in Administrative and support service activities (-0.5%) and in Information and communication (-0.1%). The index unchanged in Professional, scientific and technical activities.
