Istat disseminates Regional accounts data (Nuts2 and Nuts3) consistent with national estimates published in September 2016.

In 2015, GDP per capita amounted to 33,400 euros in the North-west area, to 32,300 euros in the North-east and 29,300 euros in the Centre. The South and Islands area, with a level of GDP per capita of 17,800 euros, reported a very large negative differential. Its level was 44.2% lower than in the Centre-North area.

The regional ranking was led by the Autonomous Province of Bolzano/Bozen, with a GDP per capita of about 41,100 euros, while the lowest value was recorded in Calabria with 16,500 euros.

The final consumption expenditure of households at current prices in 2015 amounted to 18,700 euros per capita in the Centre-North and 12,700 euros in the South and Islands area. As for the sectoral composition of value added, Lazio and Sicilia were the regions with the greatest weight of tertiary activities, while agricultural and industrial activities prevailed in Basilicata and Emilia-Romagna.
