Istat disseminates Regional (Nuts2) and Provincial (Nuts3) accounts data at current prices consistent with national estimates published in September 2015.

In 2014, GDP per capita amounted to 32,500 euros in the North-west area, to 31,400 euros in the North-east and 29,400 euros in the Centre.

The South and Islands area, with a level of GDP per capita of 17,600 euros, reported a very large negative differential. Its level was 43.7% lower thanĀ  in the Centre-North area.

The regional ranking was lead by the Autonomous Province of Bolzano/Bozen, with a GDP per capita of about 39,900 euros, almost the same in comparison to 2012. The lowest value was recorded in Calabria with 16,200 euros, down from 2012.

The final consumption expenditure of households at current prices in 2014 amounted to 18,400 euros per inhabitant in the Centre-North and 12,600 euros in the South and Islands area.

Lazio and Calabria were the regions with the greatest weight of tertiary activities, concerning the incidence of sectoral value added, while Basilicata and Emilia-Romagna were those with the highest propensity in agricultural and industrial activities.

In 2013, Milano was the province with the highest levels of value added per capita, amounting to 44,600 euros; Bolzano followed with 36,400 and Bologna with 33,600 euros.

The provinces with the lowest levels of value added per capita were Medio Campidano, Barletta-Andria-Trani, Carbonia-Iglesias, Vibo Valentia and Agrigento, with about 13,000 euros.

In the provinces of Milano and Roma the contribution of financial services, real estate and professional services was prevalent. The contribution of the industrial sector ranked first in many provinces of the North-east area, and especially in Modena and Vicenza.

In 2014 the disposable income per capita in nominal terms amounted to about 20,700 euros in the North west (decrease of 0,1%), 19,900 euros in the North-east (decrease of 0,6%), 18,500 in the Centre (increase of 0.5%) and 13,200 euros in the South and Islands area (increase of 0,5%).

The first region for disposable income per capita was Bolzano, with 22,500 euros, while the last in the ranking was Calabria, with 12,300 euros.

In the period from 2012 to 2014, only Lazio and Trentino-Alto Adige reported positive employment performance, while Calabria, Liguria, Puglia and Campania recorded the largest fall (from -5.6% to -4.3% in terms of number of workers).
