The building permits indicators measure the quarterly evolution in the number of dwellings used for residential purposes, square metres of residential useful floor area and square metres of non-residential area using the Classification of types of Construction (CC).
During the second half of 2014, the residential construction units decreased compared with the same period of the previous year (-12.2% in the number of dwellings and -13.6% in useful floor area). Non-residential buildings declined by 10.8% compared with the same period of 2013.
The number of dwellings in new buildings decreased by 18.8% in the third quarter and by 5.1% in the fourth quarter with respect to third and fourth quarter 2013.
The useful floor area declined as well: by 19.5% in the third quarter and by 7.3% in the fourth quarter compared with the same periods of 2013.
Non-residential area decreased by 22.9% in the third quarter of 2014 and it increased by 3.4% in the fourth quarter with respect to third and fourth quarter 2013.
