Turnover in services

The Services Turnover Index measures the quarterly change recorded in sales at current prices by enterprises belonging to the domain of services. Starting from the first quarter of 2013 indices are calculated with reference to the base year 2010 using the Ateco 2007 classification (Italian edition of Nace Rev. 2).

In the fourth quarter of 2014 the Services Turnover Index increased by 0.8%. In particular, the index increased by 1.4% for Wholesale trade, trade and repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles, by 0.9% for Transport, Warehousing and support activities and for Accommodation and food service activities and by 0.5% for Administrative and support service activities. Decreases are recorded for Information and communication (-1.9%) and for Professional, scientific and technical activities (-0.2%).

In the fourth quarter of 2014 the seasonally adjusted index increased for Water transport (+1.1%) and for Wholesale trade (+0.1%). A decrease was recorded in all the other sectors: Air transport (-2.3%), Postal and courier activities (-2.0%), Maintenance and repair of motor vehicles (-1.1%) and  Information  and communication services (-0.2%).
