Citizens’ satisfaction with living conditions

After the sharp decline registered in 2012, in 2014, the satisfaction of people aged 14 and over with living conditions in general showed a substantial stability, the same is observed for the satisfaction with specific aspects of life as family, friends, and health. The satisfaction with leisure time grew and the perception of the economic situation and trust in other people rose. These are the main results of the Multi-purpose survey “Aspects of daily life” that took place in March 2014.

The average score given by the population aged 14 and over to satisfaction with life as a whole is equal to 6.8. Compared to the past, the level of subjective well-being has grown in those local contexts where it was higher, but it remains unchanged at the national level.

In 2014 90.3% of people aged 14 and over were satisfied with their familiar relationships, and 82.2% were satisfied with friendships. Regarding their health status, 79.9% of the population reported a positive opinion. The levels of satisfaction with these aspects were stable compared to 2013. 64.5% of the people aged 14 and over were satisfied with leisure time, which has grown compared to 2013 (63.0%).

The share of households declaring no changes or some improvements regarding their economic situation goes from 41.0% in 2013 to 52.1% in 2014. The perception of the economic situation grew especially in the Centre-North area.

At the same time, the satisfaction with the personal economic situation increased: 43.4 % of people aged 14 and over were satisfied with their economic situation, compared to 40.1% in 2013. The improvement was more relevant in the Centre-North area.
