Istat makes available online – in demo.istat.it – data on population stocks by age, sex, marital status and citizenship (Italian/non Italian) on 1 January 2010.
The data derives from two yearly surveys conducted by Istat in all Italian municipalities, namely Istat/Posas (Resident population by age, sex and marital status) and Istat/Strasa (Foreign residents by age and sex).
Please note that from 1 January 2010 some important territorial changes have effect. The overall number of municipalities falls to 8094 from 8101 and three new Provinces (NUTS 3 level) have been introduced for the very first time: Monza e della Brianza in the North, Fermo in the Center and Barletta-Andria-Trani in the South.
