The Turnover in services index measures the quarterly evolution of sales by service sector enterprises at current prices. Since the first quarter 2018 indices are calculated with reference to the base year 2015 using the Ateco 2007 classification (Italian edition of NACE Rev.2).
In the second quarter of 2023 the seasonally adjusted Services turnover index decreased by 0.5% compared to the previous quarter. In particular the index increased in Information and communication (+2.1%), in Accommodation and food service activities (+1.5%) and in Professional, scientific and technical activities (+1.2%). The index decreased in Wholesale trade, trade and repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles (-1.3%), in Administrative and support service activities (-1.3%) and in Transportation and storage (-0.5%).
In the second quarter of 2023 the Services turnover index increased by 2.8% compared to the first quarter 2022. In particular, the index increased by 16.3% for Accommodation and food service activities, by 6.5% for Information and communication, by 5.7% for Professional, scientific and technical activities, by 3.8% for Administrative and support service activities and by 1.2% for Wholesale trade, trade and repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles. The index decreased by 0.1% for Transportation and storage activities.
