Turnover in services

The Services Turnover Index measures the quarterly change recorded in sales at current prices by enterprises belonging to the domain of services. Starting from the first quarter of 2013 the indices are calculated with reference to the base year 2010 using the Ateco 2007 classification (Italian edition of Nace Rev. 2).

In the first quarter of 2014 the Services Turnover Index increases by 0.2%. In particular, the index increased by 2.2% for Transport, Warehousing and support activities, by 1.1% for Accommodation and food service activities and by 0.8% Wholesale trade, trade and repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles. Decreases are recorded for information and communication (-3.8%), Professional, scientific and technical activities (-1.4%) and for the Administrative and support service activities (-0.7%).

In the first quarter of 2014 the seasonally adjusted index increased in Air transport (+2.8%), in Wholesale trade (+1.4%) and in Maintenance and repair of motor vehicles and in Information and communication services (both +0.2%). A decrease is recorded in all other sectors: Postal and courier activities (-1.7%) and Water transport (-0.2%).
