Turnover in services

The Services turnover index measures the quarterly change recorded in sales at current prices by enterprises belonging to the domain of services. Starting from the first quarter of 2013 the indices are calculated with reference to the base year 2010 using the Ateco 2007 classification (Italian edition of Nace Rev. 2).

In the first quarter of 2017 the Services turnover index increased by 4.5% compared to the first quarter of 2016. In particular, the index increased by 5.9% for Wholesale trade, trade and repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles, by 5.0% for Administrative and support service activities, by 4.3% for Transport, Warehousing and support activities, by 2.2 % for Professional, scientific and technical activities, by 0.8% for Accommodation and food service activities and by 0.7% for Information and communication.

In the first quarter of 2017 the seasonally adjusted Services turnover index increased by 1.6% compared to the
previous quarter. In particular, the index increased in Administrative and support service activities (+4.3%), in Transport, Warehousing and support activities (+2.1), in Wholesale trade, trade and repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles (+1.7%), in Accommodation and food service activities (+1.2%), in Professional, scientific and technical activities (+0.6%) and in Information and communication (+0.2%).
