RETAIL TRADE - June 2023

In June 2023 estimates for seasonally adjusted index of value sales fell by 0.2% in the month on month series and volume dropped by 0.7%.

In the 2nd quarter of 2023 value of sales was up 0.4%, whereas volume of sales decreased by 0.9% when compared with the previous quarter.

In June 2023 value of retail trade continued to grow for the 28th month in a row in the year on year series, rising by 3.6%, while volume sales fell by 3.5%.

In June 2023, when compared with the same month a year earlier, large-scale distribution was up 6.8%, small-scale distribution increased by 1.2% and non-store retail sales grew by 1.6%.

Online sales fell by 3.6% in June 2023 when compared with June 2022. This is the first year on year decline after 11 months of growth.

Looking at the value of sales for non-food products, data outlined a mixed picture across different categories in the year on year series. The strongest growth was reported for Cosmetic and toilet articles (+9.1%), while the largest fall was reported for Electric household appliances, audio-video equipment (-3.4%).
