Retail trade - January 2026

In January 2026, seasonally adjusted retail sales increased by 0.6% in value and by 0.4% in volume compared with January 2025.

In the three months to January 2026, retail sales rose by 0.5% in value and by 0.2% in volume compared with the previous three-month period.

On a year-on-year basis, retail sales in January 2026 increased by 2.3% in value and rose by 0.9% in volume.

Compared with January 2025, retail sales grew by 4.1% in large-scale distribution and by 0.2% in small-scale retail, while non-store sales declined by 1.7%. Online sales rose by 4.6% over the same period.

With regard to non-food products, year-on-year increases were observed in almost all product groups. The largest increase was recorded in Computers and telecommunications equipment (+3.9%), while the sharpest declines was observed in Shoes, leather goods and travel items (-2.2%).
