Retail trade - December 2023
In December 2023 estimates for seasonally adjusted index of value sales slightly fell by 0.1% in the month-on-month series and volume contracted by 0.5%.
In 4th quarter of 2023 value of sales grew by 0.3% and volume of sales decreased by 0.2% when compared with the previous quarter.
Value of retail trade, in December 2023, continued to grow for the 33rd month in a row in the year-on-year series, rising by 0.3%, while volume sales fell by 3.2%.
In December 2023, when compared with the same month a year earlier, large-scale distribution was up 1.9%, small-scale distribution decreased by 1.2% and non-store retail sales dropped by 3.3%.
Online sales grew by 1.1% when compared with December 2022.
Looking at the value of sales for non-food products, most sectors saw a decrease in the year on year series. The strongest growth was reported for Cosmetic and toilet articles (+4.3%), while the largest fall was reported for Electric household appliances, audio-video equipment (-4.1%).
In 2023 as a whole, value of sales increased by 2.8%, while volume of sales fell by 3.7% when compared with 2022.
