Retail trade - December 2022
In December 2022 estimates for seasonally adjusted index of value sales decreased by 0.2% in the month on month series and volume fell by 0.7%.
In the 4th quarter of 2022 value of sales was up 0.4%, whereas volume of sales dropped by 1.8% when compared with the previous quarter.
In December 2022 value of retail trade continued to grow for the 22nd month in a row in the year on year series, rising by 3.4%, while volume sales fell by 4.4%.
In December 2022, when compared with the same month a year earlier, large-scale distribution was up 6.5%, small-scale distribution increased by 0.8% and non-store retail sales was up 1.2%.
Online sales rose by 0.3% in December 2022 when compared with December 2021.
Looking at the value of sales for non-food products, all sectors experienced growth besides pharmaceutical products (-2.7%) and computers and telecommunications equipment (-1.8%). The largest increase was reported for cosmetic and toilet articles (+8.4%).
In 2022 as a whole, value of sales increased by 4.6%, while volume of sales fell by 0.8% when compared with 2021.
