Retail trade - April 2026
IIn April 2026, seasonally adjusted retail sales stayed unchanged in value and decreased by 0.3% in volume compared with March 2026.
In the three months to April 2026, retail sales rose by 0.8% in value and by 0.2% in volume compared with the previous three-month period.
On a year-on-year basis, retail sales in April 2026 increased by 1.6% in value, while falling by 0.3% in volume.
Compared with April 2025, retail sales grew by 0.7% in large-scale distribution, by 2.3% in small-scale retail and by 1.3% in non-store sales. Online sales rose by 8.4% over the same period.
As regards non-food goods, positive year-on-year changes are recorded across all product groups, except for Sporting equipment, games and toys (−0.8%). The largest increase is recorded for Pharmaceutical products (+5.2%).
As of this release, the information provided is expanded with the publication of volume data for retail formats and for the breakdown of large-scale retail trade, with time series starting from January 2021.
