Retail trade - April 2022
In April 2022 estimates for seasonally adjusted index of value sales remained unchanged in the month on month series, while volume fell by 0.4%.
In the three months to April 2022 value of sales grew by 0.3%, while volume of sales dropped by 0.8% when compared with the previous three-month period.
In April 2022 both value and volume of retail trade continued to grow for the 14th month in a row in the year on year series. Value sales increased by 8.4% and volume sales rose by 4.4% comparing to April 2021.
In April 2022, when compared with the same month a year earlier, large-scale distribution was up 7.7%, small-scale distribution rose by 10.1% and non-store retail sales grew by 4.2%.
Online sales, after decreasing in March, grew by 1.9% in April 2022 when compared with April 2021.
Looking at the value of sales for non-food products, all sectors experienced growth. The largest increases were reported for Furniture and textile items and household furnishings (+26.0%), clothing (+20.8%) and shoes, leather goods and travel items (+18.4%), whereas the smallest growth was reported for computers and telecommunications equipment (+3.4%).
