Istat disseminates Regional accounts (Nuts2 and Nuts3) consistent with the National accounts published in September 2017.
In 2016, GDP per capita was 34,200 euros in the North-west area, 33,300 euros in the North-east and 29,900 euros in the Centre. In the South and Islands area, GDP per capita was 18,200 euros, 44.2% lower than in the Centre-North area.
The Autonomous Province of Bolzano/Bozen took the lead, with a GDP per capita of about 42,500 euros, while the lowest value was recorded in Calabria with 16,600 euros.
The final consumption expenditure of households at current prices in 2016 was 19,200 euros per capita in the Centre-North and 12,900 euros in the South and Islands.
As for the sectoral composition of value added, Lazio, Sicilia and Campania were the regions with the highest weight of tertiary activities, while agriculture and industry prevailed in Basilicata and Emilia-Romagna.
In 2015, Milano
was the province with the highest level of value added per capita (around 46,000 euros), followed by Bolzano with 37,400 and Bologna with 35,000 euros. The provinces with the lowest level of value added per capita were Medio Campidano, Agrigento, Barletta-Andria-Trani, Vibo Valentia and Cosenza, with about 13,000 euros.
In the provinces of Milano and Roma the contribution of financial services, real estate and professional services prevailed, while the industrial sector was particularly important in many provinces of the North-east area, especially in Modena and Vicenza.
In 2016 the disposable income of households per capita was about 21,500 euros in the North-west, 21,000 euros in the North-east, 19,100 euros in the Centre and 13,500 euros in the South and Islands.
