Quarterly turnover in services

Starting from 4 quarter 2011, Istat releases the quarterly indices of turnover for the sectors Wholesale and retail trade and repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles, Land transport and transport via pipelines, Warehousing and support activities for transportations, Accommodation and Food and beverage service activities. Indices of turnover in services measure the quarterly change recorded in sales, at current prices, by firms belonging to a subset of the entire domain. The indices are calculated with reference to the base year 2010 using the new Ateco 2007 classification (Italian edition of Nace Rev. 2). Moreover an aggregate turnover index of the service sector is calculated.

Compared to the fourth quarter of 2010 the turnover index increased  by 5.5% in Land transport and transport via pipelines, by 3.0% in Warehousing and support activities for transportations, by 2.2% in Accommodation and by 1.6% in Wholesale and retail trade and repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles. A decrease has been recorded in Food and beverage service activities (-1.0%). The turnover index of services increases by 0.4%.
