Industrial turnover and orders
The industrial turnover index measures the monthly evolution of sales by industrial enterprises at current prices. The new orders index is an indicator of the value of future deliveries of products (and services directly linked to these products) to be provided by industrial producers. Since January 2009 the indices are calculated with reference to the base year 2005 using the new Ateco 2007 classification (Italian edition of Nace Rev. 2).
In September 2010 the seasonally adjusted turnover index decreased by 0.3% with respect to the previous month (+1.0% in domestic market and -3.2% in non-domestic market). The percentage change of the average of the last three months compared to the previous three months was +2.0 (+0.7 in domestic market and +5.2 in non-domestic one).
In September 2010 the seasonally adjusted industrial new orders index decreased by 1.2% with respect to August 2010 (+3.1% in domestic market and -7.8% in non-domestic market). The percentage change of the average of the last three months compared to the previous three months was +2.1 (+1.6 in domestic market and +3.1 in non-domestic one).
With respect to the same month of the previous year the calendar adjusted industrial turnover index rose by 10.8% (calendar working days being 22, as in September 2009); in the period Jan.- ug. 2010 compared with the same period of 2009 the index rose by 9.3 percent.
In September 2010 the unadjusted industrial new orders index increased by 17.9 per cent with respect to the same month of the previous year.
