Extra-Eu foreign trade
Istat presents preliminary data on Italy’s foreign trade with non- EU countries in June 2011. The results of the survey on total foreign trade in June 2011 will be disseminated on coming 12 August.
In June 2011, exports to non-EU countries increased by 7.8% and imports by 8.1% compared with the same month of the previous year. The trade balance showed a deficit of 1,534 million euro (Table 1) compared with a 1,388 million euro deficit in the same month of 2010.
In June 2011, in seasonally-adjusted terms, exports were stable and imports decreased by 2.2% compared with May 2011. Over the last three months, seasonally-adjusted data showed a 1.6% increase in outgoing flows and a 0,5% decrease in incoming flows in comparison with the previous three months.
In the first half of the year 2011 exports to non-EU countries increased by 18.7% and imports by 24.9% compared with the same period of 2010. The trade balance registered a deficit of 17,798 million euro compared to the deficit of 10,929 million euro in the same period of 2010. Excluding energy, the trade balance presented a surplus of 12,592 million euro (Table 3) compared with a 14,256 million euro surplus in January- June 2010.
